THE RAILBASE PRODUCT GUIDE
Migrate existing accounts through a reviewed source cut
Use Acme's verified October package as a controlled migration exercise with preview, independent approval and reconciliation.
Updated
Continue the Acme case
Acme's closed October package supplies known control totals: Bank $21,000, equipment cost $6,000, accumulated depreciation $100, capital $20,000 and period result $6,900. This advanced branch uses a separate empty migration training company, labelled Acme Migration Practice. Never load the same data over Acme's existing postings.
Role and prerequisites
The finance-data migration operator prepares a supported Connector source and mapping. An independent assigned reviewer decides the pinned preview in Core My work. The target chart, migration basis, company, rollback plan and supported source format must be agreed before applying anything. Connector is a Suite capability, not a separate purchase.
Preview, approve and reconcile
- Choose whether the accepted source cut contains opening balances or transactions. Avoid importing both representations of the same financial effect. For this exercise, use the approved opening-balance cut derived from the closed package.
- Select the source revision and target company. Map business accounts and dates; preview records, balanced totals and unresolved mappings. Do not apply a preview with unexplained differences.
- Attach the source basis, control totals, exceptions and recovery point. Start the migration request; the independent reviewer decides this exact preview revision.
- Complete the assigned operator step after approval. Apply and reconcile through the supported workflow. A changed source or mapping requires a new preview and review, not reuse of the old approval.
- Inspect source-to-ledger confirmations and compare the target trial balance with the accepted cut. Preserve the reconciliation report and decision.
Verify the saved result
The target contains one accepted migration effect with assets $26,900 and matching capital/result totals. Replaying the same cut creates no duplicates. The original Acme company and its history are unchanged. This guide does not promise that all external accounting systems or files are supported; use only the installed release's declared source contract.
