Where is my data?
In one place you control. Railbase records — ledgers, document metadata, tasks, and plugin data — live in a single Vault file (an embedded single-file NoSQL document store) on your own server or private cloud. Uploaded file blobs live in the configured storage directory beside it. There is no hidden copy on our side: railbase.app handles the catalog, licenses, and signed downloads, and never holds your operating data.
Because the moving parts are ordinary files, backup is file-copy work: Vault snapshot, storage directory if you use uploads, and the required secrets. This is simple self-hosting — one binary, one data directory — and it works with your existing IT partner. See backups and restore for the practical routine.
What if railbase.app is down?
Your Railbase keeps running through a temporary railbase.app outage. Normal entitlement checks are local. Marketplace connectivity is needed periodically for purchase, activation, renewal/state refresh, and update, not for every business action.
What if a subscription expires?
Your data is preserved, untouched. When a module's subscription lapses, it stays live through a grace window and then goes dormant — the module stops running, but every record it wrote stays exactly where it is in your Vault file. Paying again revives it with your data intact. Nothing is deleted, held hostage, or migrated away. Details on plans and timing live in licensing and seats.
Can auditors and viewers get read-only access?
Yes. Commercial modules are billed per company per month, so adding a viewer or auditor does not add a user charge. Access is still least-privilege: assign an appropriate read-only company role and review it regularly.

Does railbase.app ever see my business data?
No. Your operating data lives only in your Vault file and storage directory on your infrastructure. We handle the marketplace catalog, license issuance, and signed artifact delivery — not your records.
If I stop paying for a module, do I lose the data it created?
No. The module goes dormant after a grace window, but its data remains in your Vault file untouched. Reactivating the subscription restores full access.
Do read-only auditors change the module subscription price?
No. The company subscription is not metered by user or role count.
